From ground troops to towering war machines, you can be sure of a battle like none other. In this real-time strategy game, you will be able to enter a tree-way battle between Orks, Eldars and Space Marines. Who in the right mind PATCHES OUT LAN PLAY after it's been in the game for years lmfao? Completely absurd. Experience another addition to the fan favourite Warhammer franchise with Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III. People who pirate games are still going to continue to pirate games no matter what devs and publishers do (unless they get some good protection via denuvo or something), but why screw over your loyal fanbase too? Taking out LAN play on the Steam version will now only encourage more pirating in the future. See what I mean though? Why would I, or anyone else, go and buy the boxed copy when Steam multiplayer dies? Might as well pirate it. ![]() I find that very hard to believe because it sounds absurd, considering they're both the same game and both have at least shared in update 1.1 and 1.2, but I'll take your word for it. Meaning PLaying with your friends on your local network. The box version only allows you to play LAN. so online play is not an option unless you're using the steam version of the game. "LAN" can even be emulated by applications such as "Tuungle" and "Game Ranger", allowing people to play online via "LAN", greatly extending the lifespan of games such as Battlefront II, where official multiplayer servers were terminated but online multiplayer via emulated "LAN" still exists. Why not keep a "LAN" option for multiplayer so that newcommers will still be inclined to purchase the game and veterans will still be able to enjoy multiplayer via "LAN" many years from now? ![]() If anything, this will encourage people to pirate the game in the future when online is terminated. What purpose does removing LAN serve? Why not have "Online" and "LAN". This means that people who have purchased the game will no longer be able to play LAN battles with their friends. It's not an issue right now, but it will be when the online services for the game are officially terminated. It seems that only "Online" is availible for multiplayer now.
